The new way of looking at horse racing

WHY SIMON COWELL HAS LOST HIS “X-FACTOR”?

It’s been very quiet, hasn’t it?

If things were going well by now, Simon Cowell’s man boobs would be heaving and he’d be chest-pounding on every talk show about the success of his “X-Factor” in the US.

Put your shirt back on, man.

You’re scaring away children.

Despite all that initial hype, it has been, well, very quiet, hasn’t it?

Nothing about “Mr Nasty”, nothing about the fireworks that were meant to explode all over again between Cowell and Paula Abdul like those good old days.

And that’s the reason: Those good old days are done and dusted.

Viewers who grew up with “American Idol” and bought into the “Mr Nasty” shtick have grown up and moved on.

Where are the other judges – LA Reid and Nicole Sherzinger?

Again, despite the hype, it’s very quiet out there.

Watching the video below was, eh.

The fireworks promised between Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul are about as exciting as Boo Boo chiding Yogi Bear for stealing a pic-a-nic basket.

And then there are these very creepy and cheesy clips.

One can only repeat something for so long before the world says, “Enough’s enough.”

And the world today is being run by consumers.

It’s they who drop-kicked the tired old thinking of the music companies and embraced all the “new” which Steve Jobs created.

It’s they – us- who have made newspapers go outta business.

And it’s us who make restaurants, clubs and bars wonder what to do next.

It’s called Choice.

And we consumers today have a veritable buffet spread of choices.

As the article below states, there is “only room for one television talent show.”

Actually, that should be there is only room for the original.

The rest are copycats no matter how one skins it or tries to dance with changing the original.

“X-Factor” was and is a de facto copy of “Pop Idol” in the UK and which became “American Idol.”

The reason “Pop Idol” is not in the UK and why “X-Factor” can strut around like Foghorn Leghorn and be the King of the Roost is simple:

Because of an out-of-court settlement between the two Simons – Cowell and Fuller who created the “Idol” franchise, one “got” the UK and the other took the US.

And now, from what it appears, one’s got greedy or has run outta their non-compete time and has decided to “renege” on the deal.

What’s happened?

“X-Factor” has come to America and flopped – and flipped.

It cannot even match the ratings of the mind-bogglingly difficult-to-follow Mark Burnett creation that is “The Voice”.

That’s what’s happened.

Well, Mark Burnett and music “reality” shows have never worked.

The “King of Reality shows” does not understand how music works – with viewers/consumers.

The idea of judges not being able to see the performers is a one-trick pony.

It gets boring.

Same with Simon Cowell.

He’s got boring and irrelevant.

His many highly-publicized “engagements” and “love affairs” have got boring.

People are not stupid.

His relationships with women are starting to look like Tom Cruise’s marriages.

Very suss and something for the cameras.

They said, “Enough’s enough” before “X-Factor” was launched in the US.

Sadly, Simon Cowell’s ego did not allow for the message to sink in.

So what happens now?

Cutting the number of contestants from – what was it? – two to five?

Big deal. Who cares ‘cos who’s watching?

This desperate move should be translated as, “Stuff this turkey quickly and let’s get outta here while we still can.”
