For those who follow names, the Tony Cruz-trained Beauty Flash will be a sentimental favourite to win the Ladies Purse at Shatin on Sunday.
After all, the entire meeting is sponsored by leading cosmetics company Sa Sa and Beauty Flash is owned by Mr. Thomas Kwok Siu Ming, Chairman of the company.
And there is no more a more glamourous day at Shatin than Sa Sa Ladies Day.
Taking all this into consideration and with Mr. Kwok last having won the Ladies Purse six years ago with the also appropriately named Hello Pretty, all the signs point to another beauty of a success for him. Or does it?
Though we wish Mr and Mrs Kwok the best, we don’t think their runner will have a fairy tale ending.
Brett Prebble, rather surprisingly, replaces Tim Clark on last-start winner in the John Moore-trained Packing Whiz and we reckon this is the horse to beat- and which will win.
As always in a prestigious Cup race, trainer John Moore has an army of horses entered and with Dominant to be ridden- huh?- by Olivier Doleuze, Dan Excel has Tim Clark aboard and no-hoper Same World has Howard Cheng as its jockey.
Bewildering is the fact that Hong Kong Champion Jockey Douglas Whyte not having a runner in the race.
We could have sworn he would have ridden Dominant.
