Hong Kong, June 29:
Sure, there have been ring tones, ring tunes and jingles. But all these for horse racing and horse racing personalities?
This is exactly what singer-songwriter Ben Semmens from Wales and Hans Ebert, Chairman and CEO of We-Enhance and www.fasttrack.com and the man behind the provocative Racingb*tch newsletter have done through an online company called WinTunes. WinTunes is part of Fast Track Global.
“Hans has worked with two major music companies, he knows the industry, he’s remixed tracks for artists like Robbie Williams, Bowie, Gorillaz, John Lennon/Yoko Ono etc and has always thought there are extra revenue streams for artists,” says Semmens, currently in Hong Kong performing for the HKJC’s Music Rocks The Valley events and who wrote The Happy Wednesday Song with Ebert.
Adds Semmens, “Knowing his horse racing and having written and sung songs about Hong Kong’s Champion horse Silent Witness and Champion jockey Dougie Whyte, Hans came up with the idea of 30-60 jingles or ring tunes about racing personalities.”
First out of the barriers are originals written by the two about the jockeys Berry twins and Dougie Whyte, racing personalities Jo McKinnon and Francesca Cumani and legendary trainer Gai Waterhouse.
“Music is a business as is horse racing,” says Ebert, ” and WinTunes is a new business revenue generator that can promote the sport to the existing and a new audience.
“We have a business strategy in place and these first few jingles or ring tunes done on the fly and on iPhone in a few hours are the first baby steps to something much bigger involving WinTunes video games, WinTunes betting apps, original WinTunes in English, Cantonese and Puthuongua by other artists- known and unknown- and easy to approve sync deals.”
